He is currently a fresh-man at Fort Scott Community College majoring in agri-business. Brown plans to earn his bach-elor’s degree and eventually his master’s degree at Kansas State University following his two years at Fort Scott Community College. His career goals upon graduation are to work within the livestock nutrition fi eld as a feed representative, and raise his own sow herd to breed show-pigs while continuing to remain involved showing at NSR events. In college, Brown is a member of the Fort Scott Livestock Judging Team. In the past he has been an active member of 4-H, serving on multiple species committees, along with participating on FFA CDE horse judging, poultry judging, livestock evaluation and public speaking teams. If elected to the NJSA Junior Board of Directors, Brown’s goal is to positively promote the NJSA and continually work to-ward furthering youth team-based activities and the National Youth Leadership Conference.PAIGE WININGERCentral Region | Waveland, IndianaPaige Wininger, 21, of Waveland, Ind., is the daughter of Brad and Dondra Wininger. She is cur-rently a junior attending Purdue University. Her career goals after graduation are to work within ag retail focusing on chemical sales. In college, Wininger is a founding member of Kappa Delta, Theta Nu Sorority, and served on the College of Agriculture’s Purdue Agricultural Council as the Treasurer. Her hobbies include participating in the Purdue University Dance Marathon, along with showing on the Indiana Junior Swine Circuit and at NJSA shows. In high school Wininger was a four sport athlete playing soccer, tennis, cheerleading and bowling and was a member of the National Honor Society. A few of her favorite NJSA shows are World Pork Expo, National Junior Summer Spectacular, and Southeast Regional. She says these shows have become family vacation traditions to attend and participate in the judging contest and Skillathon. If elected to the NJSA Junior Board of Directors, her goal would be to further promote the Bred and Owned program to NJSA members, as she experienced how benefi cial the program was to her and her family. MELISSA KELLERAt-Large | Corfu, New YorkMelissa Keller, 19, of Corfu, N.Y., is the daughter of Ed and Julie Keller. She is a freshman at the State University of New York at Cobleskill with plans to obtain her bachelor degree in animal science. She also hopes to obtain her master’s degree to become an animal nutritionist focusing on producing healthy and sustainable products for the consumer. Her future career goal is to start a commercial hog operation with her family utilizing her undergraduate studies. Working with pigs, sharing her passion for commercial production, showing consumers how her pigs are raised – this is how she hopes to contribute to the swine industry. She has been a member of Gensee County 4-H since she was 8 years old, exhibiting in beef, swine, sheep and goat species. In high school and college she has been an active member of various clubs including Family and Consumer Sciences Club President, American Animal Producers Club committee chair, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Genesee Valley Agribusiness Academy Graduate. If elected to the NJSA Junior Board of Directors, her goal is to help NJSA mem-bers from low involvement areas fi nd connections and network with other active members, along with developing additional leadership development opportunities for younger youth to develop their skills. He will be a freshman at Butte Community College this fall, and then plans to attend Chico State to obtain his bachelor’s degree majoring in agricultural business, with a minor in Spanish. Taipin’s career goal is to become a feed representative on the West Coast and pass on his knowledge of swine feed and nutrition to the youth in the showpig industry. He has been a NJSA member for three years, and shown pigs for nine years. His favorite NJSA event is the Western Regional and Barnyard Olympics. Taipin’s hob-bies outside of NJSA include being an active member of Henley FFA, participating on CDE teams, horse judging, parliamentary procedure and obtaining his State FFA Degree. Taipin has facilitated a 4-H swine selection and showmanship clinic within his county for the past two years. He has served his 4-H club as a junior leader and offi cer, along with being a Klamath County 4-H Ambas-sador. He also enjoys playing on his high school varsity football team, wrestling team and track and fi eld team. If elected to the NJSA Junior Board of Directors, Taipin’s goal is to be a positive mentor and infl uence to youth like previous NJSA Junior Board of Directors have been to him. HANNAH SEYMOREAt-Large | Visalia, CaliforniaHannah Seymore, 19, from Visalia, Calif., is the daughter of Roger and Sarah Seymore. She is currently a freshman at Kansas State University. Her future career goal is to stay involved in the swine industry, and hopes to work for a breed organization. Seymore plans to one day operate her own showpig operation while mentoring the youth of her community. She has shown pigs for eight years, starting out locally at her county fair and evolving to exhibiting at various jackpot shows around the state of California, Arizona Nationals and Western Regional. Seymore enjoys NJSA shows for the connections she makes with others while showing pigs. She has previously served on the Showpig.com All-Star Team for three years, working with other students from across the nation to learn more about the industry. In this role she served as Fundraising Committee Chair networking to raise capital for the camps. Along with serving the California Junior Livestock Association as reporter, she has actively been involved through high school in FFA, attending various leadership conferences, participating on CDE teams, and serving as a chapter offi cer. If elected to the NJSA Junior Board of Directors, her goal is to be a mentor to others like those who have mentored her through her show career. EMILY LIGHTNERSoutheast Region | Geneva, FloridaEmily Lightner, 19, from Geneva, Fla., is the daughter of Carol Lightner. Lightner plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in agriculture education or agri business at a four-year university fol-lowing her plans to attend Black Hawk Junior College and participate on the livestock judg-ing team. She has served on numerous committees, including most recently president of 4-H Club and Swine Species and President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Lightner also is an active member in Florida’s Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau, and 4-H Leadership and Agriculture Entrepreneurship. Her dream career is to work with younger generations in help-ing them prepare for taking care of the world we live in and manage a showpig operation. Lightner says her favorite NJSA show is Southeast Regional. She also enjoyed participating at the World Pork Expo, National Junior Summer Spectacular, and North American Interna-tional Livestock Exposition. If elected to the NJSA Junior Board of Directors, her goal is to share her experiences and skills gained from the NJSA with her home state of Florida and to increase member participation through various leadership events at regional shows.
